From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists groups.
