Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
